This episode of the podcast we are joined by Dr Matt Wiles, consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivisty working in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS trust. Matt’s interests include neuroanaesthesia and trauma, being one of the trusts Major Trauma consultants.

As with many interventions in trauma, the use of vasopressors is a controversial topic and one that has gone into and out of fashion through the years. Matt takes us through the current theories regarding shock in trauma which is where the controversies begin: it might not just be bleeding! He then goes onto why you might decide to use vasopressors and touches on drug choice.

This podcast is beyond the scope of the major trauma nursing compotencies but is certainly ‘good-to-know’.
