About the podcast
Dr Jon Hulme is an intensivist, anaesthetist and pre-hospital emergency medicine consultant working in Birmingham. He has contributed to many books and publications on pain management and gives us his expert input on pain management in the context of trauma.
We can define pain in many ways (see the show notes for the updated IASP definition) but at the end of the day, management of pain is almost certainly the most important thing we can do in the acute setting from the perspective of the patient. It is something we do day in day out, often without thinking. Jon goes through some of the nuances of managing pain and offers some additional ideas we can use.
A topic that on the surface appears fairly simple but as you will hopefully see, has a lot more depth to it. As always, level 1 and 2 learning areas listed in the show notes.
